Grace Hopper Experience, February 5, Informatics East 150, 11:00 am

This is an event created by the women from SoIC that attended the Grace Hopper Conference for Women (GHC) in Computing in 2015. You can learn what to expect from the Conference, how to apply for SoIC funding to attend GHC 2016, hear how the 2015 conference was and ask any questions you may have. Food will be provided, so if you plan to join us, please fill out this RSVP form as soon as possible, so we can order the food for the event.

WIC Study Sessions

Women In Computing will be holding study tables during the month of February. There will be snacks and drinks provided. Bring a project group to work on or questions you might be having over an assignment. Hope to see you there!

Faculty Lunch with Stasa Milojevic, February 10, Informatics East 150, 11:30 am

We will be having our faculty lunches again this semester! Join WIC to hear Professor Stasa Milojevic speak about her experience as a woman in the technical field. Stasa is a professor in Library and Information Sciences and research interests include Cognitive Science, Social Informatics, Data Science, and Complex Networks and Systems. Hope to see you there! Interested in hearing what it is like to be a woman in the technical field? Join in the virtual conversation with Indiana University graduate Janelle Pena. Janelle has worked at Weill Cornell Medical College and Team Online Inc. This would be a great way to network with a woman in the technical field.

Techie Women Have More Conference, February 26 & 27

IU’s third annual “Techie Women Have More…” Conference will launch Friday for students with a mocktails reception and dinner with corporate sponsors at your tables, and an awesome key note speaker who will focus on unconscious bias in the workplace and how to best manage yourself when you are not in the majority. Sponsored by the Center of Excellence for Women in Technology, the conference continues on Saturday the 27th with separate tracks for techie women and one for exploring students who we are encouraging to be empowered via computing and technology while they are at IU. De-stressor with WIC, PIT Crew, and PACE Setters, March 2, Informatics East 150 at 7:00 pm

Come relax and enjoy some de-stressor activities before taking your midterm exams! There will be food, games, massages and other de-stressors! Bring a friend and enjoy a study break. RSVP here!

Course Advising Session with WIC, March 8, Informatics East 150 at 7:00 pm

Need help choosing the right classes? Do you want learn more about a professor who is teaching a course you are interested in next semester? Women in Computing is hosting an advising session for students to come and ask others about courses they have taken before and other advice. Members from the Women in Computing leadership team will be present to share their knowledge and answer questions, but we need you to come share your experience, too! Join Women in Computing to celebrate accomplishments of the 2015-16 year, honor our graduating students, and to recognize faculty members who have made a difference for them during their time here at Indiana University.
